Show our ocean some love this Earth Day!

Being a terrestrial species, "Earth" seems like a logical name for our blue planet. But if we had named her more "appropriately" as Arthur C. Clarke suggests, she should have been ocean. Covering 70% of our planet, the ocean holds 97% of our water, the bringer of all life.

To have a healthy planet, we need a healthy ocean. That's why we're working to protect our blue planet for future generations and for all the other life that calls this beautiful blue sphere home.

We're seeking an experienced and dynamic part-time Chapter Capacity Coordinator to support and expand community engagement in existing chapter regions. The ideal candidate will increase chapter capacity, influence, and the effectiveness of on-the-ground chapter operations.

The Coordinator will work from home and the IOC office in Boulder, CO for approximately 20 hours a week. For the right candidate, we will consider applications from outside the Boulder/Denver area.

Our ocean has never faced such a myriad of serious threats, but we’ve never been more hopeful. Since our formation in 2011, we have worked with communities across the country and have seen a marked increase in the number of people wanting to get involved and make a difference.

This series of four trainings will take the place of our annual Ocean Rangers Training and applications will open next week - stay tuned!

The Ocean Climate Action Plan (OCAP) is a policy framework for developing the US Blue Economy in the 21st century to both mitigate the impacts of climate change and accelerate coastal adaptation efforts.

OCAP includes the best ideas from individuals and organizations across industry, academia, NGOs, and government. The policy recommendations included appeal to both Democrats and Republicans, as ensuring a healthy and vibrant ocean and coastal economy is firmly in the national interest. 

Our partner Blue Frontier Campaign will host a series of keynote speakers on each of the four topics covered in OCAP on Wednesday, April 29th, from 9:00am-2:00pm (PST)/ 12:00pm-5:00pm (EST). Attendees may join for all or any portion of the event. Learn more and register here!
